Milliken showcases Innovation Gallery of problem-solving textiles, performance materials and services at Techtextil 2015

Milliken & Company has announced its participation in Techtextil 2015, booth B56 in Hall 3.1, featuring an on-site Innovation Gallery and its many textile, performance materials, and services. The Innovation Gallery will showcase industry-leading products and services that improve health and safety, enhance people's lives, and help make the world more sustainable.

Among the products are custom textiles and other high-performance materials that offer solutions for buildings and infrastructure, industrial reinforcement applications, protective and specialty clothing, the automotive industry, commercial flooring, and table linens.

2015 marks Milliken's 150th anniversary. Over fifteen decades, the company has built a strong heritage of innovation based on unique insights, deep science, and meaningful design. Milliken's focus at Techtextil 2015 will reflect its approach, as well as its passion for quality, sustainable manufacturing.

Here are just a few examples of what the company will be highlighting at Techtextil:

1. Reinforcements for roofing, tape and industrial applications: Milliken offers a wide range of textile capabilities for use in reinforcement fabrics. It has built its reputation on designing unique, competitive products to solve customers' challenges. Milliken products for reinforcing roofing help manufacturers comply with strict wind-performance standards, improve durability and increase the longevity of their commercial roofing systems.

2. Reinforcements for tires and rubber goods used in various industries: With more than 40 years of innovations in rubber reinforcement, the Milliken fabric and cord solutions make tires, rubberized belts and hoses stronger, while reducing weight and cutting material requirements. Ready-to-use reinforcement fabrics reduce the amount of rubber needed. That means lighter tires, and thus lower fuel consumption and CO2emissions.

3. Flame-resistant fabrics for protective clothing: Milliken's recent acquisition of Westex, Inc., a leading manufacturer of branded flame resistant (FR) fabrics, establishes Westex by Milliken, the newly created FR business, in the forefront of the protective fabric market. Together, Milliken and Westex create an unprecedented ability to provide the most innovative fabrics for industrial workers around the world who need protection from arc flash, flash fire, and other thermal hazards. The diverse portfolio of Westex FR fabric products are real-world tested, comfortable to wear, and are sold under such brands as UltraSoft, Indura, and True Comfort.

4. High-performance, sustainable solutions in table linens: The Signature by Milliken® portfolio of table linens includes the REPREVE® brand of recycled fiber. REPREVE is made from recycled materials, including polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. Milliken's use of REPREVE means that laundries and other table linen users now have a more sustainable product, with no sacrifice in appearance, performance or durability.

“Visitors to Techtextil will be able to see for themselves how and where our innovative products and services solve problems around the world,” says Barbara Haaksma, vice president of corporate marketing and communications. “Innovation has been at the heart of Milliken's success since 1865 and we remain focused on doing good for the world, creating new experiences for our customers, and building for the future.”
