Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone
of India’s first Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM
MITRA) Park in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh on 17 September 2025, unveiling
a major push to strengthen the textile value chain. The park sits over 2,158
acres in Bhainsola village. Around 1,300 acres have already been allotted to
more than 80 industrial units.
Investors have committed more than ₹23,000 crore in
proposals already. State and central policy incentives include competitive
power and water supply, green infrastructure, common effluent treatment, and
public utilities. Modi emphasised that the park will enable easier access to
raw materials such as cotton and silk, simplify quality control processes, and
anchor production, designing, and export operations and thus, making Dhar a
complete textile ecosystem.
Other announcements at Dhar included the Swasth Nari
Sashakt Parivar health campaign and expanded welfare efforts in women’s and
tribal health services. PM Modi urged citizens to support Swadeshi goods ahead
of the revised GST rates coming into effect from 22 September.
Textile analysts believe the PM MITRA Park will generate
about 3 lakh jobs both directly and indirectly, and sharply elevate India’s
competitiveness in exports. Dhar’s strategic location in a major cotton
producing state strengthens its appeal for investment in textile manufacturing.
