In UK, Fashion Retail Mergers And Acquisitions Up 40%

Recent deals involving fashion businesses include the sale of athleisure brand Sweaty Betty to American footwear group Wolverine in August for US$ 410 million (GBP 295 million) and The Hut Group’s acquisition of online pureplay Cult Beauty for GBP 275 million in the same month. Karen Hendy, head of corporate at RPC, said that affordable luxury brands are particularly sought after at the moment, and that investment is coming from a mixture of established high-street giants, newer online retailers and private equity funds.
