Yamuna Is A Name To Reckon With In Finishing Machines

Yamuna has become a name to reckon with in textile finishing. How has business been for you?

We have been witnessing a strong growth in our business over the last couple of years. In this exhibition (ITME 2016), we have received even more response for our products. There was much more positive approach from our existing clients. They have appreciated our presentation and I think we are likely to have much better business after ITME 2016, which was not expected considering the immediate prevailing economic situation.

Tell us more about the machines you have showcased at India ITME 2016, including the mercerising and denim range.

We have exhibited five products. First is our main product which is the stenter machine. We have exhibited it here with all the features needed for knitted fabrics, denims as well as technical textiles. Along with that we have also exhibited our coating machine which is meant for functionaltextiles and it has created a good impact at the show. People have made inquiries about the coating machine because that is the future of textiles i.e. technical textiles. Then, we have exhibited our jigger machine, for which we already have a good market share. Our singeing machine which has been developed in collaboration with Bejimac, Belgium has also received a good response. We already have  50 installations in India.

What are your respective market shares for each of your products?

For denims, we offer complete package right from singeing to finishing. We have a very large market share in denim in India. This year, we are also doing some overseas projects in denim. Our new upgraded stenter machine model is doing really well, we have increased our market share for this product too. This machine has strengthened the profile of our brand.  Other segments where we are exclusively providing solutions are for coating and finishing carpets and nonwovens, and hence we enjoy a good market share.

Yamuna also has partnerships with foreign technology companies. Could you elaborate?

We have overseas strategic partners like Bejimac, Zimmer, MHMS, Polteks etc. We work on special lines with them. For singeing machines, we work with Bejimac. For carpet machines, we are working  with Zimmer where we provide equipments to compliment the chromojet Printing line and backing lines for Carpets. Recently, we joined hands with a Turkish company Poltek to introduce calender machines.

What are your plans on the export front?

We are already exporting our machines. This year we installed two lines in Brazil as well as few machines in Middle East. Our customers from Egypt, Iran and Ethiopia  orders with us. Right now, we are looking at the South American and South East Asian markets because we expect that market to grow. Bangladesh and Indonesia are also gaining importance. India of course, remains our largest market.

Where do you see most of your business coming from in the next five years in terms of machinery segment as well as geographical areas?

In terms of geography, it is certainly going to be India. Besides, we also see greenfield projects being set up in India. In terms of machines, we have two separate segments -namely processing machines and denim processing machines. As far as processing machines like stenters and jiggers are concerned, there is some demand generated due to capacity addition, but mostly it is demand generated by modernisation of factories by existing clients. Of course, denim machines have been our forte for the past three years but at the moment, it has slowed down. However, we expect demand to return. Other segments doing well at are nonwovens and special finishing machines for technical textiles.

Could you elaborate on the nonwovens segment?

In the nonwovens segment, we are doing finishing machines for needle punch fabrics and thermo bonding lines and special finishing machines. This year, we are going to install machines with one of the market leaders. Besides, there are two new projects in the pipeline of which one is already and the other will be executed in January 2017. These are two large scale projects and we hope to get more such projects.
